Generations

for

Peace

The rapid influx of Syrian refugees into Lebanon has increased social pressure on communities. The NGO Generations for Peace is working to bring together young people from Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian communities.

According to UNHCR there are over one million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and around half a million Palestinians. Hosting these populations has put enormous pressure on the country, and caused resentment amongst the Lebanese host population.

Often young people from the different communities are fairly segregated. Generations for Peace helps bring different groups of adolescents together so that they can participate in sport and art. It is hoped that the shared activities lessen the mistrust and prejudice between communities. Generations of Peace asked me to make a film about these activities and the experience of several young people.
